Today’s cricket match between South Africa’s Proteas and the Australians – an ODI day-nighter – won’t be interrupted by the rolling blackouts that have brought chaos to Cape Town in recent weeks.
At least, that’s the hope everyone appears to be grasping at. Apparently, the cricket people have struck a deal with the Eskom people (see below) , to the effect that the Newlands-Claremont area, where the cricket stadium is, will have its daily blackout this morning, and be spared in the afternoon, when the cricket gets underway.
