Backpackers Stay for Free in Ceres

One of the Western Cape’s most famous backpackers’, The Farm outside of Ceres, has a work-stay programme for those who want to get to know South Africa from the ground up.

The deal is: work 5 hours a day for two weeks on the farm (minimum - you’ll be known as a “Whoofer”) and get benefits in the form of free activities, camaraderie and credit in the University of Life.

SA law does not permit the “permit Free” work and it is likely to land foreigners in hot water. Most immigration offences in South Africa are now being treated as criminal matters and this will be part of a person’s record for all other travel and immigration (UK, US, EU, NZ, Australia, etc).

If you know the system there are a number of legal work permits available for foreigners.

We would be glad to offer professional immigration advice for foreigners who wish to live in South Africa . We can be contacted at leon@globalimsa.com or see http://www.globalimsa.com.
