New Kruger Park Webcam: Satara

The Kruger National Park has introduced a second webcam, at Satara camp (map), just a few kilometers down the road from its original webcam at Orpen gate (map).

Unlike OrpenCam, however, SataraCam is open only to SANParks online forum members. (SANParks is the government conservation service that runs most of SA’s big parks.) The forum is a useful place for information and advice on visiting the Park, as well as discussion of park activity. A hot topic at the moment: elephant culling.

  • Becoming a SANParks Forum member is easy: click here to register.

SataraCam overlooks a watering site, putting it in a good position to view all manner of thirsty beasts, from antelope to big cats. In this still image taken from the webcam, though, readers will search in vain for said beasts, because it was snapped in the middle of the hot day, when they’re all lying in the shade (the beasts, not the readers), thinking about the lovely cool water they will lap up in a few hours’ time.

Once you’re in the forum, and able to view SataraCam, happy hunting!

That’s neat that Bob Geldof is there.

That is not true anymore. You do not need to register anymore for this cam. There are 3 more cams in the process of being bought / installed, these have been bought by forum members as well, and are likely to be for members only for a while. Registration is free though.
