By golly, they’ve done it! South Africa’s national cricket side, known as the Proteas, have won a bona fide-five day test - for the first time in the long and soon-to-be-finished season - and against credible opposition, no less.
The first test against the visiting Black Caps from New Zealand was a see-saw affair, with both top order batting lineups struggilng to make any impression on a “sporty” - or, depending on your point of view, “spotty” - pitch. The lead exchanged hands twice.
Makhaya Ntini took another 10-fer, his new opening-spell partner Dale Steyn bagged a 5-fer, and when the last Black Cap wicket fell, South Africa had its 100th test win. Well done, gentlemen!
