Liberia, the Sesquicentenarian, Turns 159

Your Correspondent has been looking for an excuse to use the word “sesquicentenarian” since assuming responsibility at SA Logue - and now I have Liberia to thank for providing me with one.

Happy Birthday, Liberia! The small nation on Africa’s west coast, which has endured regular spates of misery in its (relatively) long national life, is 159 today. To celebrate, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf switched on municipal water and electricity supplies in the capital city of Monrovia today, which had been out of commission for the past fifteen years.
