Leticia posts a comment, asking - What is the best way to find out which performing arts events will be happening while I am in Cape Town - especially the insider stuff?
The independent Armchair is a bastion of alternative performance and music - it’s considered a prinicpal home of the Cape Town “underground scene”.
Best of all for Leticia, it’s just a 5 - 10 min walk from her hostel in Observatory, the Riverview Lodge.

hey there Ben and bloggers: actually The Independent Armchair Theatre is predominately a music venue (with some film/tv screenings thrown in) and not really focused around live theatre at all. Darn. If you know the name of the local (versus tourist) weekly guide that posts all the theatre happenings in town that would be excellent…
Leticia, there’s lots ‘o’ performace at IndieArm as well, actually, although their current lineup is music-heavy. Being part of “the scene”, however, it’s a good place to learn more about what else is on in town: if you ask questions there, you’ll likely get the answers your looking for. (The intent of my post was to point you in a promising direction.) Otherwise, try these (somewhat mainstream) entertainment blogs:

Ben–thank you most kindly!
