Having had such a torrid time finding a decent plate of food along Camps Bay’s famous Victoria Road strip - click here and here for the most recent flops - the SA Blog team decided to take a different tack.
This time, we ventured into “the suburb by the beach” for sundowners - and chose as our venue the broad deck of the fairly fancy restaurant, Summerville. Having staked out a corner with an excellent view at about 5h30 p.m. - still plenty of setting sun ahead of us - we rejected the dinner menus out of hand and enquired about the different behavior-altering beverages that might be ordered.
Thus it is that SA Blog can’t vouch for the food at Summerville, but can heartily assert that the sundowners - including 3 gin martinis, several pints of draught Pilsner Urquell, and various pink- and green-colored concoctions - are first-rate.
Insider’s tip: Get a cone at Sinnfull Ice Cream afterwards to recover.
