Located in Hout Bay, a half hour’s drive south of Cape Town, Rockchic is a gem and jewellery shop. Like most rock/gem shops, you can find an assortment of semi-precious stones for presentational and personal uses, as well as aromatherapy oils, mist makers and information on the healing properties of crystals.
However, what makes Rockchic stand out are its unusual necklaces, bracelets and other handmade jewellery. Items tend to be big and bold, chunky and funky. I can guarantee that no one else will be wearing a piece like it at your next dinner party.
Prices vary, but are reasonable: R250-R600 for most necklaces. Stop by the tourist office to pick up a flyer and you can get 5% off. Items are also available from their website.
