Curio Menagerie, Red Hill Road

Spotted! The most amazing curio menagerie, at the bottom of Red Hill Road, which connects Scarborough and Simon’s Town (map; the menagerie’s where the M66 meets the M65).

Clearly, this place is for serious collectors only. It’s perfectly positioned to catch those who, having visited Cape Point, are making their way back to the city via the Atlantic coast side of the Cape Peninsua, which takes them through the hamlets of Scarborough, Misty Cliffs and Kommetjie - each home to a variation on breathtaking ocean scenery - and then via Noordhoek on to the singular, spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive.

If you want to take a near-life-sized elephant back to town with you, make sure you visit Cape Point in a bakkie! (Bakkie = pickup truck.)

Spotted at the same location as Curio Menagerie inside the farm is an amazing little shop called RED ROCK TRIBAL. What an experience. All locally made arts and crafts. Beautiful thing. Very interesting. Scrap metal sculptures, african artefacts. I had the most amazing time there. A highly recommended visit.
