After breakfast head off to nearby Margate Country Club, a beautiful but relatively easy opening round to loosen up ahead of the more difficult courses which lie ahead. After breakfast a 30 minute drive gets you into Wild Coast territory and the famous championship Wild Coast Sun Golf Course, a real challenge if the wind is blowing. After breakfast a short drive takes you to San Lameer, an exhilarating course set on the sub-tropical coast, this is a fun course but beware the water. Lunch is included at the Club House. Early morning departure for our three-day safari with your tour leader and state registered senior guide Sean Ross. The tour passes through sub-tropical landscape along the warm Indian Ocean waters lined with holiday towns. Rolling hills, sugar plantations and rural settlements characterize the setting before passing through Durban, South Africa’s third largest city with approximately 3.5 million inhabitants. The journey to Hluhluwe takes about 3.5 hours. We stop for a breakfast break midway.
We arrive at our 4 star Private Bush Lodge outside Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park late-morning. After relaxing at the pool and a light lunch we have the option to do a 1 hour game walk in the lodge grounds with close up views of giraffe, gnu and other antelope. Around mid-afternoon we depart on an open safari vehicle for a 3-hour game drive in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Big 5 game park, Africa’s oldest having been established in 1895.

The day stars with a pre-dawn Safari, the best time of the day to view the animals, especially the cats which are still hunting in the cool air before resting as the day starts heating up. Again we depart from our Lodge in an open safari vehicle. We return to the Lodge for a late breakfast. We depart mid-morning for St Lucia, stopping along the way at the Zamimphilo Art and Craft village where you have an opportunity to buy some local hand made Zulu art, the proceeds of which go directly to the local communities.
We arrive at the Isimangaliso Wetlands, (formerly known as the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park), South Africa’s first World Heritage Site, for lunch. The park is South Africa’s third largest at 1,700 square kilometers and hosts an incredible five ecosystems. After lunch we relax around the pool of our river fronting 3 star Protea Elephant Lake hotel before our late afternoon boat cruise up the St Lucia river. The two hour boat trip will guarantee you fantastic views of Hippo and Crocodile as well as a wonderful selection of bird life. The day is rounded off with a dinner at a fine local restaurant where the brave can sample crocodile meat and other wild dishes.

After a relaxing breakfast at out Elephant Lake Hotel we depart for the heart of Zululand where the kings of the Zulu nation hold their seats. Our journey brings us to Shakaland, a living Zulu village where guests, under the guidance of a Zulu, can learn much there is to know about the Zulu people, South Africa’s largest tribal group with over 9 million members. Included on our 2 hour tour of the village is the role of women in society, including the making of beer, food, pottery, weaving etc, and the traditional role of the men, including spear making and fighting tactics. Closer knowledge of the traditional healers and medicine men’s practices are also on display as well as a fantastic 30 minute exhibition of energetic Zulu and related tribal dances.
The tour is concluded with a fantastic lunchtime meal which includes traditional Zulu staples such as maize, samp (cracked maize), spinach, beans and a fine selection of meats, cheeses etc. We arrive at Ramsgate at 17:00.
